About Us

Shetland Youth Information Service is the most northerly youth information service in the UK

We work with young people who have need for information and advice in order to improve their life choices.

We offer a daily drop-in service where young people can come and meet their friends and to discuss any issue of concern to them with a friendly, approachable and trained member of staff.

Additionally, where young people request it, we offer personal and individual support to enable young people to respond immediately to urgent issues.  This includes support to access the expertise of other agencies and services.

Shetland Youth Information Service seeks to:

  • provide access to information and advice to young people to raise awareness, increase knowledge and widen personal choices

  • provide a non threatening environment to encourage young people to engage in informal education opportunities

  • provide support to allow young people to take constructive steps to affect positive change in their lives
