Other Options

There are other options for learning in Shetland many of which can fit in around work. If you want to learn a new skill of any kind Adult Learning may be able to help you.

They also offer English for Speakers of Other Language courses and tailor made courses for those who want to improve their literacy and or numeracy.

Some of the courses offered are free of charge, others are free to those on certain benefits and some can be fully or partly funded by an Individual Learning Account.

Individual Learning Accounts (ILA) are a government funded scheme which allow individuals who are on benefits, or who earn less than £22,000 a year to claim up to £500 towards the cost of learning.

For more information, call the ILA Scotland helpline free on 0808 100 1090 or visit the ILA Scotland website.
