SAFE (Sound Advice For Everyone) is a new outreach project run by Shetland Youth Information Service which aims to reach young people aged 12 to 25.  We aim to provide Shetland’s young people with the information, advice and support they need in order to make good life choices.

We believe that easy access to information allows young people to make better, more informed choices, which improves their life chances.  Our work to date has largely focused on working in schools, providing workshops on relevant youth issues and has proved to be both popular and successful. 

This year we are re-launching our outreach project with 2 workers, one focussing on under 18s and one focussing on over 18s.  The new strand of work with the over 18 age group will seek to spend time in pubs and clubs and at local events, delivering information on youth issues directly to young people.

SAFE seeks to deliver information on a wide range of issues, including: sexual health, drug awareness, alcohol, harm reduction, mental health and wellbeing and housing.  We will also run a range of sub projects focussing on such topics, which will fit in with local and national campaigns and events.
